Reopening 9-10-20

We’re Coming Back! (Kindergarten section Corrected)

Dear parents,

Thank you so much for all your support during this time of distant learning.  It’s been an adventure for everyone!  I commend you for your dedication, patience, and support.  I also want to thank the teachers for the amazing job they have done.  As successful as this as been, nothing can compare to the dynamics of instruction done live in their classrooms at the school.   I’m proud to announce that due to state benchmarks being met, Yavapai County schools are free to return to a hybrid model of learning (part in-person and part distant learning).  The good news is that the case numbers are also continuing to drop in our county.

Mountain Oak will return to a hybrid model of instruction on September 10th.

The hybrid plan in summary will be as follows:

  • Kindergarten 8:15 A.M. to 12:00 Noon.
  • 1st through 3rd grade will attend school from 8:15 A.M. to 2:45 P.M. everyday, Monday through Friday.
  • Mr. Cal’s 4th/5th grade class will be split into Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.  Group ‘A’ will attend school from 8:15 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Mondays and Thursdays.  Group ‘B’ will attend school from 8:15 to 3:00 P.M. on Tuesdays and Fridays.  On the days children are home, they will be active in distant learning.
  • Mrs. Newell’s 6th/7th grade class will be split into a Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
  • Miss Poirier’s 8th-grade class will be split into a Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’.
  • Children who choose to remain in distant learning will be provided recordings or videos of lessons virtually.

More detailed information will come out on who will exactly be in Group ‘A’ or Group ‘B’ in the upper grade classrooms and also health protocols to be follow by Tuesday.

  • Parents are required to report their child’s temperature daily when dropping off children.
  • Children will be required when inside the building to wear either a face shield or cloth mask.

Thanks again for all your hard work,

Steve Cook
